Explore the Bay

Kachemak Bay

Entirely glacially carved, Kachemak Bay boasts dramatic fjords, exquisite rock formations, snow-capped peaks, glaciera and glacial lakes, and the famous Spit.

With some of the most extreme tides in the world, we often find pools of turquoise glacial run off contrasting with the  deep blue ocean water.

Gull Island bird species

Horned Puffins, Tufted Puffins, Pigeon Guillemots, Common Murres, Pelagic Cormorants, Glaucous Winged Gulls

all make their nests here.

Bald Eagles haunt the island looking for an opportunistic meal.

On rare occasions we will see a Peregrine Falcon.

Abundant Sea Otters

Kachemak Bay has a healthy population of Sea Otters which we frequently encounter.

These creatures are the most densely furred animals on the planet, with 1 million hairs per square inch.
